Controls Engineer - SP Scientific: PennTech

Location: Warminster, PA
FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

SP Industries is seeking a Controls Engineer to research, plan, design, and program machine control systems, and direct and coordinate activities involved in assembly, operation, application, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical systems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the minimum qualifications cited.

Education, Experience, and Work Skills
  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science discipline from a four-year college or university is required. Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley software including RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, or FactoryTalk is required.
  • Experience with Siemens PLC and HMI programming (WinCC, Step7, TIA Portal, et cetera) and Simatic machine vision systems is preferred.
  • A strong knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring methods is required.
  • Good AutoCAD Electrical skills.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
Language Skills
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and customers in one-on-one and group settings.
Mathematical Skills
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
  • Able to troubleshoot complex problems with machinery control systems in person and via phone.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
